
This weekend marks the beginning of the 2025 football season in the Central Federation, with a number of aspirational sides set to kick off their campaigns.
Dettol Men’s Central League
Napier City Rovers will be the sole representative for the Central region in the Dettol Central League, facing a tough challenge in round one as they hit the road to Endeavour Park to take on Western Suburbs, who finished second in the 2024 regional phase.

Women’s Central League
This ten-team competition includes four Central teams for the 2025 season. Palmerston North Marist, a long-standing presence in the league, is joined by more recent competitors Taradale AFC and Moturoa AFC. Additionally, Palmerston North United will make its league debut this season after qualifying through a dual playoff scenario.

Lotto Central League Division 2
The newly created Lotto Central League Division 2 competition will see a ball kicked for the first time this weekend. Announced last year, this new competition will showcase a diverse lineup of talent, featuring four clubs from the Central Federation and six from the Capital Federation. The ultimate carrot for all those involved is of course automatic qualification to the 2026 Dettol Men’s Central League for the league winner.

For the 2025 season the seven Hawke’s Bay teams will be joined by three Tairāwhiti teams instantly adding mystery and competitiveness to the competition. We’re anticipating this to be a highly contested premiership.
